(Dan Tri) – The 2024 Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off in the coastal city of Cannes, southern France.
This year’s festival opened with the premiere of the film Le Deuxième Acte (The Second Act) directed by Quentin Dupieux.

Caught by the Tides by Chinese director Jia Zhangke also received high expectations from experts.

Emilia Perez by French director Jacques Audiard, set in Mexico, about a crime boss who undergoes gender reassignment surgery to evade the authorities is also expected to win an award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Director Jacques Audiard once won the Palme d’Or.
Megalopolis by American director Francis Ford Coppola is considered a strong candidate for the Best Film award.

The Un Certain Regard category includes 18 films.
The 2024 Cannes Film Festival promises to be a fierce race between leading European and Asian filmmakers as well as filmmakers from other countries and territories around the world and even Hollywood.

Xiang Yuanlong is based on one of the most famous unsolved murder cases in China.
The film revolves around a wife, Zhou Zhanshi (Zhang Ziyi), who is accused of bloody dismembering her husband’s body – a murder that seems impossible to carry out alone.
Holding the position of President of the Cannes Film Festival 2024 Jury is American director and actress Greta Gerwig.

Since 2018, Cannes Film Festival has committed to fighting against sexual harassment and violence during the event by deploying a dedicated support unit.
Therefore, the Organizing Committee affirms that the 2024 Cannes Film Festival does not accept any form of insult, violence, discrimination or harassment, whether from event staff or festival attendees.
